LINKS FOR READERS OF ROMANCE
AND JUST FOR FUN

As an author of erotic romance, I'm aware in my roll of promoting safe sex practices and developing healthy outlooks toward sex. Call it my medical background, or chalk it up to my being the product of liberal minded parents, whatever you may think, women have the right to healthy attitudes about sex, as well as the right to enjoy it as much as men! There's a wealth of information in these links and some great reference material on how to speak to our kids about sex-a daunting thought, even to an author or erotic romance! Happy perusing!
WOMEN'S HEALTH
The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada - A fabulous site with tons of information about health and prevention, plus the role of the gynaecologist in a woman's life. Also, a good section on sexuality. Particularly useful as it spans the woman's lifetime-from the beginning of menstruation through menopause

These two sites will give you a good idea about PPD, ways to treat it and signs and symptoms. The one site has an excellent message board for those who are suffering from PPD. PPD is nothing to be ashamed of, but it is a disorder that needs to be treated. If you suspect you might have PPD, see your doctor right away. Remember, you're not alone. Ronald McDonald House - A charity that really works. Anyone who has ever gone through, or even seen a loved go through an illness of a child knows how devastating it can be, both physically and emotionally, but financially as well. Ronald McDonald house allow families to stay close by their children while they receive hospital care-sometimes hundred of miles away from home for a minimal amount of money. They're located all over North America, and it's a very worthwhile cause.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
I'm the first to admit that I like, and I do write, those skillful alpha heroes who usually won't take 'no' for an answer. Now, I'm all for some buff hunk tossing the heroine on the bed and using his masterful sexual skills to coerce her into making her forget that she might have been resisting his advances. That's fantasy, and in my opinion, some pretty good, steamy reading. That's fine as long as it stays in its place. However, for many women who live in an abusive relationship, it must be a nightmare. I've provided some links, some are links that I personally think are of value, and others have been provided to me by a close friend of mine who is a sexual assault/domestic violence nurse. I support women and their right to a safe home, a protective, loving partner and the right to say no. Please, if you or somebody you love (woman, child or even man)is being abused, please help them. It takes one call to take your future in your hands and mold it to what you want it to be.
National Coalition Against Domestic Violence
A U.S. based organization with lots of numbers and links to state sponsored centers and shelters.
The E Magazine on Women and Human Rights Worldwide.

Women And Equality Unit
A British site that has some very useful links.
Women's Aid
The best of the lot! It's a British site, but has very useful information such as how to spot signs of abuse, what to do if you or someone you love is being a victim of abuse. Also, it's got a great page that shows how to hide your tracks from your abuser so he/she will not discover you've been searching for help.
Ontario Network for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Centres
A large database for the province of Ontario, with crisis phone numbers, and shelters.
